Human Resources Management Courses and Certificate Program
Developed as an introduction to the fundamental theories of modern human
resources management, these in-depth courses will help veteran human resources
professionals keep current in a rapidly changing field, while providing
those new or aspiring to the profession with the skills and knowledge they
need to build a successful career.
The following courses may be taken independently, applied as core requirements to the Human Resources certificate, or applied as electives to certificate programs in Supervisory, Public or Nonprofit Management. Formal admission to the university is not required.
Certificate Requirements
To earn a certificate, a student must successfully complete a total of 10
courses, consisting of five Human Resources core and any five professional
development individual courses taken as electives. Upon completion of the
10 courses, a Certificate in Human Resources Management will be awarded.
Required Core Courses:
* Courses marked with an asterisk have been approved for six to 12 recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). Any of these professional development courses may be taken independently and require no formal admission to the university.
Extended Studies classes are held on campus in the Continuing Education
Building, 1041 N. Virginia St., Reno, unless otherwise noted.
