Financial Assistance
Financial aid is generally not available
for open-enrollment independent learning courses. (Click
here for information
about financial aid for semester-based independent learning courses.) However,
the following is a list of suggested resources:
DANTES for the Armed Forces
The University of Nevada, Reno’s Independent Learning Program has been approved at both the high school and university levels to provide courses to military personnel within or outside the U.S. Members of the armed forces should consult their education officers or nearest education center concerning individual, veteran or tuition-supported enrollment in independent learning.
Students with disabilities
Some programs, such as Vocational Rehabilitation
and Bureau of Services to the Blind, provide limited financial aid to qualified
individuals. For more information, please contact the specific agency in
your area.
College financial aid
Some financial aid may be available through the University’s financial aid office; call (775) 784-4666 for application deadlines and eligibility requirements. The Pell Grant is one of the federally funded programs that may be available to certain qualified individuals who already have 12 credits on campus and wish to enroll in one additional independent learning course.
Note to Millennium Scholars: Open-enrollment independent learning classes may not be used as part of the 12 credits of on-campus course requirements for Millennium Scholarships; however, semester-based independent learning courses may be used as part of the 12-credit minimum requirement for Millennium Scholarships.
