Paralegal Studies
Since 1992, Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno has provided an intensive yet condensed practical introduction to the paralegal field with the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program, providing a noncredit educational experience of the highest caliber. In Spring 2008, Extended Studies added another successful Paralegal Studies course, Legal Writing for Paralegals and Legal Assistants, and now, new for Fall 2009, Extended Studies will offer Legal Research for Paralegals and Legal Assistants, a course designed to develop legal research skills inside and outside the classroom through online and library practice.

Legal Writing for Paralegals and Legal Assistants
Continue to build your career with this in-depth legal writing course. Taught by Sparks Municipal Court Judge Jim Spoo, who has more than 20 years’ experience as an attorney, the new Legal Writing for Paralegals and Legal Assistants course will develop high-demand writing skills and focus on creating clear, complete and well-written documents including letters, inter-office memos and client memos utilizing the correct style, organization and content. Paralegal Studies Certificate Program
Taught by Probate Commissioner Linda A. Bowman and Sparks Municipal Court Judge Jim Spoo, both with extensive experience in Nevada’s state and federal courts, the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program provides students with the skills to accurately identify legal issues, research relevant law and apply the law to factual situations.
